“What I will say is that what I have learned for myself is that I don’t have to be anybody else; and that myself is good enough; and that when I am being true to that self, then I can avail myself to extraordinary things…You have to allow for the impossible to be possible.”

”It took me 10 years to be ready for this. I’ve got a pretty good foundation of friends and family that will always keep me grounded no matter what. But I don’t think I would have been ready for it 10 years ago. So I’m really happy with the way it worked out. You need to learn how to do this. You need to learn how to keep your cool, learn how to be a leader on set, learn how to act. F—-, I still know I’ve got a ton to learn. It’s all a learning experience. I’m going to school every day.” [x]

I hate watching myself. I’m in the business of movies so I have to, but it’s painful! I mean, yeesh. First of all, you want to do a good job and there are so many times you’ll think, ‘Okay, I know I did different versions of that take, why did they choose that one?’ or, ‘why was I so bad in that scene?’ and of course you’re going to be critical, but it’s your work and your face and you take pride in it and often want to do a better job.”

"I think I really wanted to prove something to myself, but at the same time, I’m very sensitive. When you see those action movies and it’s like the back of somebody’s head and then all of a sudden they give that one pose at the end and you’re like, "That was not…That was the lamest thing." You want to see the actor risking their life. It’s part of what sells it, I think, as an audience member, and, like I said, I’m sensitive about that sort of thing. So I would want to… I never would want to be that. I wouldn’t want to be perceived as a wuss who couldn’t do it, I guess. " - Scarlett Johansson

Rene Magritte, The Lovers, 1928
Magritte’s mother was a suicidal woman, which led her husband, Magritte’s father, to lock her up in her room. One day, she escaped, and was found down a nearby river dead, having drowned herself. According to legend, 13 year old Magritte was there when they retrieved the body from the river. As she was pulled from the water, her dress covered her face. This later became a theme in many of Magritte’s paintings in the 1920’s, portraying people with cloth covering their faces.
